Back-up rolls
To prevent work roll deflection, back-up rolls in rolling mills are of
vital importance for the performance of the entire application. we
focus on producing back up rolls made from forged steel. The reason
for this is that forged rolls offer a higher resistance to work
hardening and better mechanical properties at the neck at a comparable
cost with cast steel.
Combined with our manufacturing and marketing knowledge, Dee Tee
application knowledge offers highly functional solutions for back-up
rolls. Condition monitoring and improved maintenance processes are
examples of Dee Tee services that can enhance performance
further. To many steel producers, our low-friction and
high-performance rolling mill rolls are the key to improved efficiency
and reduced costs. No matter where you are located, we can supply you
with a comprehensive range of forged steel back-up rolls. Forged steel
back up rolls are manufactured in the same way and materials as cold
mill work rolls. This section covers forged steel back up rolls above
1,060 mm as well as back up rolls in cast iron grades. The raw
materials used in the manufacture of our forged rolls are of
high quality and supplied by quality approved vendors, while heat
treating and final machining is carried out at our factory. Forged back
up rolls can be supplied in various grades and sizes as per
custom requirement of the client two with varying chromium
content to meet different hardness and wear resistance requirements.
Our sales and market support team can help you select the best roll
grade for your particular application. backup rolls are manufactured from
special high carbon high chrome steel and heat treated in most modern
heat treatment shop to ensure maximum wear resistance and toughness
for longer life. rolls manufactured for Specific applications in
rolling mill, tube mills and section mills, flattener rolls, leveler
rolls. Through hardness is imparted to give maximum tonnage between
regrinds. Hardness variation is achieved within 2HRC, Max

MACHINING CYCLE
The machining cycle of the rolls starts with the order to selected
suppliers of the forged, rough on drawings blanks, which are quenced and
tempered in accordance with the hardness calculated by B.S.A. in order to
guarantee the mechanical characteristics (i.e. impact strength, toughness
and wear resistance) necessary for the best performance of the rolls.
After an accurate check to control the inner quality of the rough
materials coming from the steel suppliers, we go on with the machining
cycle which includes different steps (i.e. turning, boring, milling,
drilling and grinding).
However, the most important step is the induction deep hardening heat
treatment
The machining cycle ends up with the final test to check the rolls
hardness in different points, the dimensional matching with the drawings,
the perfect surface conditions (roughness and roundness) and, finally,
with the punching with our trade mark . Logo DEETEE
